All Women Are Sisters

On this day before Candlemas, I'd like to pass on an important link to my fellow sisters in my age range:
http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/01/10/peri.menopause/index.html

Next, I'd like to share an email with you all:

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea
and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

"Don't forget your Sisters," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass.
"They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. "Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. "You'll need other women. Women always do."

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!' But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've

learned:

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up (as they should, and parents’ best way of loving them is to give them the space to spread their wings).

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men (some men, some of the time) don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.
A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering
you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life! The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I.

When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

Short and very sweet:
There are more than twenty angels in this world Ten are peacefully sleeping on clouds. Nine are playing. And one is reading her email at this moment.

That's it. Now go and enjoy the feast of Brighid tomorrow!

Why Magick Girl Hates Her Mommy

I went into the holiday season of 2006 with high hopes that this year might be better and guess what happened?
1) My car went on the fritz in October and finally, after 2 months, 3 mechanics and $1400.00 good old Iris is running just as she was before Halloween...so why all the money? Ask me what she is NOT doing and you'll get the answer. She is NOT stalling in the middle of the highway, expressway or intersections anymore and has had most of her service work done.
2) Just when I thought it was safe for me to be financially on track, despite the money spent on Iris, Wham...the bandit debt collection agency who sued me in 2003 and whom I've been making regular payments to for a year now hits me with a $1000 dollar interest charge and Levy's my bank account again...ON PAYDAY with a $500 dollar bonus on my check. Merry F%$&*g Xmas....but I grin and bear it and do what I can to not freak out. I call the company bullies and tell them, no, I cannot continue to make payments since I have no money because the levy has taken every penny I have. Besides, with what was in my account, they have all I owe them. Now all I have to do is figure out how I'm going to pay the bank back for all of the checks they are going to pay and still pay my rent, utilities and feed my cat.
Which brings us to
3) Somehow, Magick Girl split one of her claws right down the middle. As soon as I noticed her sensitivity I did the responsible pet owner thing and took her to the vet. Mind you, this is my 2 year olds first visit to the vet....poor girl gets things stuck up her butt, shoved down her throat, x-rayed and finally, a special litter to help avoid getting the affect paw infected. When I got her home she was okay though a bit dazed from all the activity and the ride in the car. So we're fine this morning until I have to give her a dose of Kitty-biotics. I grab her and put her in my lap like I do when I cut her nails and pry open her mouth to shoot the meds down her throat. Now she hates her mommy...every time I try to pick her up after the meds she cries and growls at me.
Now you know why Magick Girl hates her mommy. I guess I'd hate me too if I had been tormented like that....I wonder how she'll react when I get her spayed in February?
Did I mention this visit cost me $343.00 and the check is being held until my next payday, when, if I'm lucky, my boss will stop the auto deposit so I can go to Palo Alto, cash the check and pay for everything I need in Cash instead of using my levied bank account?

Season of the Witch

Well, the season of the witch has come and passed and will officially end with tomorrow night's Full Moon. I have had a lovely season so far and even went out and about on Halloween itself in my witchy best.
However, the season of the witch reminds me that the rest of the hoilday season is yet to come. I'm trying to figure out what to do for Thanksgiving...should I brave the highways solo and go have dinner in So Cal with my parents, aunts & uncles or stick close to home and spend it with my kitty?
After all, if I go to So Cal, my Aunt Trudy will try to turn me into a young (or not so young) republican, drag me off to the Reagan museum and insist on trying to dress me like a politico! (it wasn't as bad as all that, but it was very, very interesting a few year ago).
Hmm, the furry face gets my vote!

The Forgotton Game & the Red Bull Run

The Forgotton Game & the Red Bull Run is a story I was supposed to publish in August and here we are in October. As my nieces, who has been pondering the seasons said in her Blog...WOW, where has the year gone!
It's seems pointless to go back over the Forgotten Miniature golf game and the Red Bull run, but the pictures from the wedding reception brought back just how much fun we had in the Springs in August.
Pictues to come...
As for what's happening with me...not much changes, I work, I go to a local bar & grill after work (so I don't have to eat dinner alone), I go home, then get up and do it all over again!
This Saturday I'm supposed to start a 4 week Kick Boxing class but the elements are already threatening to disrupt my availability.
AuntieE out!

The C Springs Trip

The Negative Ion Addict, my lovely niece Tanya, already posted an awesome description on the Wedding that took all of my family in California out to Colorado Springs. The trip turned out to be not only a wedding, but a family reunion of sorts. I posted a picture of part of the family and extended family as well as a pic of the bride, groom and maid of honor.

Thank the Goddess and all the Powers That Be for the company of all of my nieces! I was "forced" to play minature golf in a lightning storm (I came in next to last despite 2 amazing hole-in-ones) but would not have missed the experience for the world. THAT was truly and awesome and memorable night with all my nieces...and a first for this Auntie eWitch....all my nieces and I.

There is more to tell, but this old eWitch needs her beauty rest...I'll tell more tales, including how I followed my nieces around like a puppy so I wouldn't be caught trying to escape from the rest of the family too obviously (a very bad habit of mine...you'd think I'd have better social skills by now, right??)
Cheers!
